About Us
Sankhuwasabha Tourism Development Society – Kathmandu (STDC) is an non-profit making and non-governmental organization established in 10/06/2070 and registered in District Administration office with registered no 317/071/072 in 08/06/2071; also affiliated with Social Welfare council in 03/07/2071 with affiliation no. 40265; District Development Committee no. 252 in 31/05/2071 and pan no. 602835880.
The overall aim of the STDS is to promote, facilitate and develop tourism in a sustainable manner by adopting the labour based, local resources oriented and environmental friendly technique in accordance with the rights based participatory approach by networking with tourism related communities, organizations & institutions, government line agencies, local authorities, social organizations (NGOs), community based organizations, stakeholders and other related like-minded organizations to enhance the capacity and to increase the socio-economic growth of the local communities.
The mission of STDS is to promote tourism industries for overall economic development of Sankhuwasabha District and strengthen local communities in their socio-economic status which ultimately contribute to the country development process.
Objectives:
- Develop and market Sankhuwasabha as an eco-tourism destination
- Promote sustainable tourism development in Sankhuwasabha
- Promote sustainable design and resources management in the tourism sector
- Build institutional capacity to deal with environmental management in the tourism sector
Specific Objectives:
- To facilitate the establishment of eco-tourism in Sankhuwasabha as a prime choice of holiday destination
- To reduce environmental impacts of tourism on the environment
- To promote sustainable design and to manage resources more sustainably within the tourism sector
- To conserve, preserve and develop the cultural, traditional value for sustainable tourism development
- To improve and extend tourism related infrastructures in existing and new tourism sites
- To enhance the capacity of service providers.
- To build community capacity in the new areas to cater to the needs of the tourists
- To promote domestic tourism for sustainability of industry

- Organize major sports events in association with tourism associations and stakeholders throughout the year
